Vishakha’s cricket journey began unexpectedly at the age of eighteen.
One day, while sitting in a hall and watching an IPL match between RCB and Mumbai, a simple yet powerful thought crossed her mind: “I can also play cricket.”
The very next day, she shared her wish with her father. His response was doubtful: “You won’t even be able to see the ball. How will you play?”
Instead of discouraging her, those words sparked curiosity and determination. Vishakha questioned herself — what kind of game is this that I cannot play?
Without informing her father, she joined a cricket academy the next day. After enrolling, she told him that she would begin practice immediately. He agreed and allowed her to continue.
From that moment, her real journey began.
Although she had always loved cricket and played street cricket, she lacked proper technique and formal training. In the early days, the coaches from Akola played a crucial role in shaping her as a cricketer. They worked extensively on her batting, made her hit hundreds of cones, trained her in fielding, fitness, and overall discipline of the game.
Through consistent hard work and dedication, Vishakha earned the opportunity to represent Arunachal Pradesh at the state level.
That moment changed everything.
Seeing her progress and commitment, her father’s belief grew stronger. Today, he supports her completely — from diet and fitness to gym and coaching. His support has become one of her biggest strengths.
At just 21 years of age, Vishakha knows that this is only the beginning.
She believes in moving forward with patience, confidence, self-belief, and faith in God, and dreams of going much further in her cricket journey.
